We spoke to Anthony Hernandez about our win over Mons Calpe last weekend, head coach Steve Cummings and more.
Hernandez reflected on our 2-0 win last Sunday that keeps us top of the league, “I think we played well. It wasn’t our best performance, but we never stopped
fighting. We kept trying to create chances which we had been doing all season and ultimately, we broke the deadlock and took the game. We have a lot of trust in ourselves this season because we know that we have players all around the pitch who can create and break teams down at any second of the match and it wasn’t any different in this one.”
The team sits top of the league after 7 games, recording 6 wins. Anthony gave his thoughts on the season so far, “We are having a very good season and I’m very happy with the team’s attitude and
performance. I say this knowing that the league this year isn’t easy, and it shows as every team has dropped points. So, we are doing well so far but need to keep it up and never relax.”
Next up for the team is College 1975, we asked Anthony how the team feels going into Saturday’s clash – “The team is feeling good and excited to go out there performing as we have been. We know that no opposition is easy as we are only as good as how we play on the day. So, in the end, it’s a case of doing what we do best and taking another 3 points.”
We asked Anthony about the impact head coach Steve Cummings has had on the team, “Steve has had a very good impact on us this year and it is showing. He brings loads of energy and good ideas and transmits them to us genuinely and with his best intentions. I think our togetherness is a key driving factor this year and he is a big part of that. Altogether, I am very happy with how our relationship is and all together we work every day to make Europa improve on and off the pitch.”
Lastly, Anthony gave us an insight into his goals for the season – “Personally, my goal this year is to win the league whilst being a key part of the team. To be honest, I never really do set myself personal goals such as a goal tally or assist tally. For me, all I want is to perform well as I know I play a key role in the attacking (and defending) aspects of the team. So as long as we win and perform well, I am happy.”
